about this website

Strangers, By Spring is a blog about escapism, romance, and rebirth. It is collaboratively written by Red and Henry (from Online).

A portrait of a large white man looking straight at the lens, with a shaved head and a nose piercing. Presumably, this must be Red. A portrait of a thin white man made of stern angles, with light colored hair and dark sunglasses on. Presumably, this must be Henry.

The project is a free-form, creative writing indulgence designed to be worked on slowly for the rest of our lives. It's a loose character dramatisation, and a steadily unfolding narrative of sketches, glimpses, and imagination. It is a celebration of lyrical, flamboyant writing that exists simply for the joy of it.

Strangers, By Spring is a writing project, but it's also an independent web project. It's part of the practice of an ongoing effort to make things simply because you want them in the world. The process is the reward, and anything beyond that, less important. We'd both really love to encourage you to make many, many more of the things that you want to see, too.

Music

This website comes with an audio player designed to compliment a cinematic reading experience. We've chosen some work by some of our favourite musicians to help do that.

  1. Absent Minded, by Gabríel Ólafs
  2. A Shimmer, by Nils Frahm
  3. Good Night, Day, by Johann Johannsson
  4. Vinegar Hill, by Elijah Fox

If you are the owner of the rights to any of this beautiful music and would like it removed from the website, please contact us and we'll of course take it away at your request.
